Pada 5 Desember, acara utama Melon Music Awards 2020 (MMA 2020) berlangsung tanpa penonton tatap muka karena pembatasan COVID-19. Namun acara disiarkan langsung secara online.
Pada tahun 2020, Melon Music Awards diadakan selama empat hari dari 2 hingga 5 Desember. 10 Artis Teratas (BTS, BLACKPINK, IZ*ONE, Baekhyun EXO, Im Young Woong, Oh My Girl, Kim Ho Joong, Baek Yerin, Zico, dan IU) dan kategori penghargaan lainnya (Rock, Indie, OST, R&B/Soul, Ballad, Rap/Hip-Hop) diumumkan sebelum acara utama pada 5 Desember.
Dalam dua tahun berturut-turut, BTS menyapu bersih semua Daesang (hadiah utama) malam itu dengan Artist of the Year, Album of the Year (“Map of the Soul: 7”), dan Song of the Year (“Dynamite”). Daebak!
